Happy Birthday Jennilyn!

Cousin Nathan and Big Brother Dillon

Cousin Nathan feeding you a bottle
Aunt Sarah holding you, she and Grandma Burke were there in the delivery room with me when you were born as your Daddy was out of town with work.

You and Daddy when he finally made it to the hospital late afternoon the day you were born.

You in your blessing dress made by your Great-Grandma Dillon & your Nanna Dillon

Our first family picture after you were born.

Happy 2nd Birthday Jennilyn! 2 years ago you came into this world, at 4:15 am and you were such a big baby, I didn't belive the Dr when she said that you were a 9 lb 2 oz baby girl, but I loved you from the moment you were born. The labor and delivery was only 4 1/2 hours long so you came quick and your Daddy missed it all as he was out of town. You have been a joy in our lives and we love you and all that you do to make us laugh and enjoy life. Here are some pictures from when you were born, I don't have your cake pictures yet, they will have to be posted at another time.

Zoom, Zoom, Zoom

Yesturday we went to Wonderland and we went on the rode the little Merry-go-round, road go-carts, played miniture golf, had pizza and just had fun being with family from out of town. The one picture is of Jennilyn and her cousin Abby they were not happy that they were too young to go on the go-carts you had to be 3 years old to go. Some of the group even did bumper boats and leaser tag, while others of us just went around earning tickets to get a little prize for each of the little kids. I think we all had fun! The babies were great too.

Growing Up

I own three excersausers I have two at my mother in laws and one here at my home for the twins, they love them. The other day Jennilyn decided that she was going to get into one and play, I caught these pictures before I made her get out. She is a cutie and I love her.

Dillon sure is trying to be a big helper even though he still doesn't talk much, we were going to leave my in-laws today and he was draging me over to his twin sisters so that I could carry them out, and then once we got home he stood by the one sister while I carried the other one up to our 2nd floor apartment and then he walked with me while I carried the other one up, if he could carry them I think he would. I am sure blessed to have such great kids.He also wanted to get himself dressed and he sat on the potty tonight, now if we can just get him to do that all the time.

The twins are trying to pull themselves up into sitting positions and such, they are getting quite skilled at this.

Fun at the lake

Today we went to one of the lakes around Spokane, it was choosen because it has a nice sandy beach and swim area as well as the boating area. We got there and there was no parking what so ever so then Dan dropped the kids and I off and he had to drive 30 min away to the casino were his dad had to launch the boat and his Dad and brothers took the boat and went and got him and his sister who also had to go park there. We also celebrated Jennilyn's birthday today with everyone since Dan leaves out of town tomorrow and will be gone for her birthday so here are some pics from the event. The kids loved the the boat ride and such.

We turned 6 months old!

This picture was taken when they were 3 months old so it dosen't do them justice, but I will put up more pictures soon.
Ruth & Irene turned 6 months old on the 20th of July! Yesterday we took them in for their 6 month check up and shoots. Ruth weighted in at 13 lbs 12 oz and 25 1/4 inches long. Irene come in at 14 lbs 6 oz and 26 1/4 inch's long! Dr. Olson came in and saw them playing on the table and playing with themselves in the mirror, it was quite cute watching them crawl all over the table with us standing right there to monitor them. They are doing the army crawl just great and can get all over the apartment that way, they are working on getting up on their hands and knees and moving which they showed the Dr that they could do that. Dr. Olson gave them a clean bill of health and told us they are growing well, he is happy with their growth in the last six months.

Now we just have Jennilyn's appointment for her 2 year checkup and shots on Aug 27.

We are going to the lake this weekend and looking to have some fun with the Burke Family and celebrate Jennilyn's birthday early as Dan is headed out of town on Sunday for the month of August and will miss her birthday, oh well at least he has a job.

It has been awhile!

Well I haven't posted since I fell and broke my arm while I was in Utah visiting. My Mom came back to Washington with me and stayed until July 14th when they took off my hard cast and put me in a removable brace. It was good to have her here and I want to thank her, and a big thanks to my dad and all of my sisters for parting with her for the 6 weeks that she was with me. I still don't have 100% use of my arm, but I am getting stronger by the day. The only thing I haven't managed to do yet is give the twins baths, my mother-in-law has helped me with that as Dan has been out of town since June 30th. He comes home tomorrow and we are excited even though he will only be here for a few days and then he is gone again for another month. The Dr did say that we will be doing physical therapy in two weeks to get the full use of my arm.

The kids are all doing well, Dillon is trying to say more words, and wants to pick up his sisters all the time. Jennilyn is a chatter box and talks more then Dillon, she is my big girl and I get a laugh every time I tell her something and she says "OK" and then does it. Or she will get her shoes and say "found them". Ruth and Irene turned 6 months old this week, I can't believe it, they are crawling all over the place and try to get a hold of paper and eat it. Tonight they even attacked my dinner and wanted to eat it while I was eating, I had them in my lap at different times.

This last week Irene attacked my ice cream sandwich and was eating the ice cream and Jennilyn feed Ruth some of her PB&J sandwich that she gummed to death before I caught it.
This is Ruth and Irene today playing while their sibling took their naps.

This is 3 of the kids playing together, at one point I had all 4 playing together but I didn't get a picture of it.

Ouch!

Well, I am still in Utah, until Sat. On Wed I went to visit a friend and as I was loading my kids up, I lost my footing getting out of the van and fell. I sprained my left ankle and broke my right arm in 2 places. Now I am typing this with one hand. I am out of commission for six to eight weeks, all I can do is nurse the twins, if sombody puts them on the bobby pillow. I dont have a cast on yet, I think that will happen once I am back in Spokane. Luckly my mom had already decided to drive back to spokane with me. I think I need help!

All together again!

Well Dan got home and we are all together in our new place for the first time. Dillon & Jennilyn are very excited to have their Daddy home, they haven't wanted him out of their site. It will be intresting to put them to bed tonight. Tomorrow we will go to our new ward for the first time. Then on Tuesday afternoon we will go to Kennewick and meet up with my mom and sister Emily and drive to Utah with them. It is exciting to think that I will be with my sisters again after 2 1/2 years. I hope to see other family and friends while I am there.

Busy, busy, busy

Well, I came home from Kennewick, and have been busy packing. We are moving on Friday night. I am going to do this without Dan, as he won't be home until May 30th and I am leaving for Utah on May 23. On a side note, I got home from Keenewick and lost my keys. We still haven't found them and we have torn the house apart looking for them. Since I didn't have another set here, Dan made a copy and sent it to me today. Well I need to get my kids to bed and contiune to pack while I can.

Having Fun!

Well we came back down to my grandparents on Monday and have been having fun with my parents, and two of my nephews, Jonny & Leo.

Dan was asked to stay in Ohio until May 30th so we are sad that he is gone. We are going to go to Utah to visit family and friends the end of May and I am excited about that.

We are also moving into our own place next week. I am excited to have my own space again.

It Is Found!

We found the prized blanket. We came home to Grandma Alcorns tonight after spending time at the park waiting for my cousin Hannah to finish her baseball pratice and we gave Dillon and Jennilyn a bath in Grandma's big tub in her bathroom. After I got Jennilyn dressed, while I was picking up the dirty cloths, I saw her go into their walkin closet, and come out with her blanket. Ha!!! We had looked for that thing for 24 hrs, even looking in that closet. She knew were she had put it. At least tonight she went to bed with out crying since she had her prized blanket that Aunt Heidi & Tiff had sent when she was born. It has been my only pink blanket that I had with her. I am so glad we found it.

Here Jennilyn is with her blanket on Wednesday pulling it in the wagon.

Dillon having fun outside at Grandma Alcorns!

Little Ruth is such a scooter, she moved off the mat, turned herself and was moving back. Irene does the same thing.

Irene rolled from her stomach to her back today at 3 months and 3 days old. This was taken just after she did it.

The twins are also teething so life has been busy.

It's Gone!

Well, after searching the house and car for last night and again today, we have given up looking for Jennilyn's favorit blanket. We had it at Dinner last night and I took it away from her since she isn't to have it at the table, and that was the last we had seen it. She picked it up after dinner and we can't find it now. We have told her to go find her blanket, and she goes down to the family room, but never brings it out. We may just have to leave Grandma Alcorn's without it. Hopefully she dosen't get too mad about it.

Another week

Well, the kids are all growing. We did family pics this last week, so I will post some as soon as I get them.

Dan left out of town on Sunday for two weeks. So since he was going to be gone, I decided to go down to Kennewick and stay with my grandparents. We are having a great time here.

Dillon did something new today. Grandma was watching him, Jennilyn, & Ruth while I went shopping with Irene in tow. Grandma had put Jennilyn down for a nap and Dillon had been playing. She got lunch put away and was tending to Ruth and got her laid down, when she went to check on Dillon, she couldn't find him, he had gone down to the basement to the room that he stay's in, closed the door and climbed into his bed and went to sleep for his nap. He dosen't always take a nap anymore, and he has never just gone to his bed and gone to sleep. I am glad that the kids were good for Grandma while I was gone.

Growing like weeds!

Well, we had the twins in for their 2 month check up yesturday. Ruth is now 9 lbs 5 ozs and 21 inches long. Irene is 9 lbs 14 ozs and 22 inches long. The Dr said they were doing great for twins or even if they had been a single baby that is a great weight. Jennilyn is sure getting jelous lately of the twins and Dillon as Dillon gets to go to speech theraphy twice a week and she dosen't get to go out as often. Oh, well, I am trying to do more with her. We have an appointment tomorrow to get Dillon into preschool. I hope it will help with his speech.

Three questions about me

This last week I went to the Ralief Society Birthday party dinner. Our them was "Wok" with Friends." We had a Chines cooking demonstration and then had chines food for dinner. At our tables they had a takeout box filled questions and we were to take three of them and then read them out loud and answer the questions to the others at the table so that they could get to know you, well what would you know, the tables all filled up quickly and I was left setting by myself with Nova(mother in law) and the twins, so I didn't answer the questions to anyone. The RS President and a councilor sat down with us later, but I still didn't answer them, so I thought I would answer them on my blog.

1- Would you rather live in the country or the city and tell why? I would rather live in between. I like the country being spread out and not on top of my neighbors, but I like living in they city to be close to everything to go and do.

2-What is the best memory of your mother? Your father? The best memory of my parents are that they have been there for me when ever I have needed them. My mom made dresses for Easter and dances and such. My dad taught me how to drive and has always been a shoulder to cry on when I have needed it. It was great to have my mom in the operating room with me when I had the twins. Dan didn't want to be in the room, so my mom was able to be there. It was great to have her there.

3- What is the best memory of your grandmother? Your grandfather? It is hard for me to think of a best memory, but Grandma and Grandpa Dillon were always the ones that lived the closest and we had the opportunity to live with them. I think just the fact that I had the chance to be close to them and have them see me go on a mission. They both died while I was on my mission so the last time I saw them was almost 10 years go when I left for the mission field Sept 1, 1999. I have felt them close to me the last few months as I have had twins and feel a little overwhelmed at times. Grandma and Grandpa Alcorn have been great. I am enjoying living somewhat close to them ( 3 hours). But they have been the help I have needed more recently. I am grateful for their help and love and support. The thing I remember about Grandpa is him being a Bishop and working as a boarder patrol officer, and him coming and going to work. Grandma I remember having quite time at 10am and 2pm everyday of the summer. The little ones took naps and us older ones, had to either lie down, or read a book or even write letters.

So these were my questions and I feel better at least trying to share some memories or thoughts about some of the people that are dearest to me.

Some pics of the twins

Well we blessed the babies on March 1st. We had family from Kennewick, WA and Ashton, ID come for it. I have two sets of twin cousins and one set of them Bryce and Chase came to the blessing so we took some pictures of the twins with them and me since I am a twin myself. I also got a 4 generation picture with my grandparents and my mom. Also Dan fell asleep rocking the twins while he let me get some sleep. I am grateful that he is willing to do that once in a while. Dan is gone to Louisiana with a job until Mar 29th so I will not see him for a total of 3 weeks. But we are surviving
My mother in law Nova made the dresses, booties, and hats that the girls are wearing.
Thank you so much for making them. I will treasure them for the girls forever. Now Jennilyn has one that was made by my mom and Dillon has a boy one made by mom. Thank You both for everything this last few months. I love both of you and appreciate all you both do for me.

Are we getting some sleep?

Well the twins are almost two months old, and they are starting to get on a schedule of sleeping, but what is great, is that right now I have time to type this while all four kids are down for naps. Yea! It has been tough this week with Dan out of town until March 29th, and the babies are not wanting to cooperate going to bed. Jennilyn is wanting to be the baby too, and is trying to get me to carry her everywhere, but I have been good and let her cry it out when I don't pick her up. I am not at my computer so I will have to post new pictures later. The twins are both over 8 lbs and I can tell they are getting bigger, they are staring to outgrow the newborn cloths and are starting to were the 0-3 months cloths.

Irene Marlyn was born at 4:20 pm Jan 20th and she weighed 6 lbs 4 ozx and 17 1/2 inches long. Both girls are doing great and so am I.

It was cute to watch Dillon and Jennilyn get introduced to the girls today. Dillon actually wanted to hold them more then once.

still waiting again

Well the Dr just sent me home and scheduled me for a c-section on Tuesday Jan 20Th at 330 pm pacific time. I feel a little scared as I have not had a c-section before. Dan's job got changed so this is good he doesn't go to Utah until the end of next week so that is good at least he will be here when the twins are born.

I felt a little frustrated because they kept telling me full term for twins is 36 weeks, but the Dr said they couldn't do anything until I was 38 weeks which I will be on Sunday. I almost feel like they are treating me like a single baby and not twins. I was told that the twins are weighting in at 7 lbs, which if that is tree the preemie cloths that I got at my baby shower most likely won't fit.

Well I will post sometime after the twins are born.

Still Waiting

Well I am 37 weeks along right now I will be 38 on Sunday. We had an ultrasound done yesterday and baby A is still breached so when we see the Dr today we will be setting a c-section. After the drive home from my appointment yesterday I have hardly been able to walk. I have a feeling that when we go to the Dr's today that they will send us over to the hospital next door and get this over with. I don't have regular contractions, but I have been having some contractions over the last 2 days. I am hoping to have the babies by Saturday night as Dan leaves out of town Sunday morning to fly to Utah for a job Monday and won't be back until Monday night.

We had a good Christmas. We got up and had breakfast and then we got my parents on the web cam and they got to see the kids open their gifts. They have loved playing with the kitchen set that I had gotten for them. If they had gotten nothing else for Christmas they would have been happy. My parents then drove from Kenniwick WA that afternoon and I finally got to see them. I saw each of them separately this summer, but I hadn't seen both of them together since they had come to WI 17 months ago for the baby blessing of Jennilyn. They stayed for a few days and then they came back with my aunt Peggy and her girls for a baby shower that my sister in law did for me. My mom has stayed to help with the kids and be here when the twins are born. I really appreciate her help. My dad went to Utah with Grandma and Grandpa and won't be back until the end of January so my mom is staying until then. I feel so lucky to have her come to stay so long.

Well hopefully we will be posting some pictures of the twins really soon.
Until then.

Doing to much!

Well today I learned what it is like to do to much and feel the pain for it later. My mother-in-law and I went to do some arrends and get a few grocyers and even though we were only gone for about 2 1/2 hours I was feeling the pain with the twins by the time we got to the car at Walmart. As a result I stayed off my feet the rest of the day and she took care of the kids until Dan got home. She also made dinner for all of us so that I wouldn't have to be on my feet again. I have found it is easier to go upstairs and stay up there for a while rather then going up and down all day. This morning knowing I was going out after the kids had breakfest, when I came down to get dressed, I got the things I knew I would need for the kids and I took them back upstaires with me so that I could avoid going up and down the stairs. I think it helps to try and plan a little that way. The kids were good today which helped a lot while we were doing our shopping. Now if they can just be good fo my appointments for the rest of the week as I am not fitting behind the steering wheel very well, my sweet mother-in-law is driving me everywhere.

Until next time.

Well I am an Aunt once again. My sister Wendy just had her first child, a boy born at 345pm today Nov 9, 2008. They named him Jack Riley Norman. He was 7 lbs 12 oz and 20 in long. I haven't seen pictures of him yet, but I can't wait. Coming from a family of all girls it is funny that all of us have had boys for our first baby. I am excited for her and wish her the best of luck.

Update

Update!

Well we had another ultrasound yesturday. Everything is still looking good.

We had another 3-d picture done, but baby "b" wouldn't wasn't in the right position to get "a" picture so here is baby a's picture.

People have been asking if we have names picked out. Yes we do

Ruth Lois and Irene Marlyn. These are family names and we thought it would be great to honor our grandmother's and mother's in this way. Ruth is acutally my Grandma Dillon's middle name, but since we didn't want to do double naming (My sister shares the same first name as my grandmother) as has happened alot on Dan's side, even I share the same first name as one of his sisters and we are the same age. Lois is after my Grandma Alcorn, Irene is the first name of both of Dan's Grandmother's and Marlyn is my mom's name. We liked how the names sounded together even though people have told us they are so old fashion.

Well that is it for today.

I Voted!

Well it is the day after elections and as I have watched the results this morning, I fell that our nation will never be the same for our kids as it was for us growing up. I did vote last week as Washington state does all voting by mail. No long lines, no waiting with kids or taking turns no worrying about the polls closing. You just had to have you ballot in the mail by 8pm last night. Well we mailed ours out last week.

I am glad that I voted and had the chance to take part in the system that our great nation has set up and I hope that we never lose that freedom.

Twins!

Well here it is finally we have scanned in the pictures of the twins. 3-D.

It is amazing how technology has come to were we can see them this way before they are born. I didn't have this done with any of the other kids so this is neat.

Well we had a good Halloween. We took the kids to the mall and just walked around the first floor as the kids are still little we didn't see the point in doing both floors, but also we found out as we were getting ready to go to the mall that they were only doing the trick or treat until 7pm and it was almost 630pm before we got there as the kids took later then usuall naps.
This week Dillon became very interested in pirates as my mother-in-law was busy making two pirates costumes for two of her daughters. So on Thursday morning my mother-in-law got up and in 1 1/2 hrs made the pirates costume he wore to a play group on thursday and then trick-or-treating on Friday.
After we got done at the mall we went to Dan's sisters' house to trick or treat there and visit. Some of the pictures are of the kids with their aunts and their roommate Katie.

The kids had fun walking around the mall and holding our their buckets to get candy. So far I have hidden the candy and they haven't been begging for it.

Hope you all had a fun and safe Halloween.

Well it has been awhile since I last posted and I promise that I will do better.

Well since I last posted we have found out that we are having twin girls. Poor Dillon, he will have to be the lonely big brother with all those girls around.

Dillon and Jennilyn have been enjoying playing outside a lot right now and even run and get their shoes and bring them to us when they want to go out. Jennilyn is into saying bye-bye and waving to you all the time. She is a cutie. I will try and update some pictures this weekend when I have the laptop back. Dan is out of town again and I am using a different computer that dosen't have all my pictures on it.

We have another ultrasound this Friday to see how the twins are growing. Dan has had his first job with our new computer repair business that we have started. He even gets to go back this Saturday and do another job for the them that they requested. Hopefully we will continue to see more jobs come in.

Yesturday, I had a some vistors come see me. My great-Aunt Orba who lives down in Zillia, WA (4 hrs away) and her husband Nick, my grandfathers cousin Russell, and my great-great- aunt Elma who lives here in Spokane came to see me. Orba called and said she was in town and wanted to come and visit me and say hello. I was really greatful for the visit. It is nice to know that I have family willing to call and stop by when they are in town.

Well the day is a busy one for me so I better get going.

Hello,

Well it has been awhile since I last posted. We found out last week that we are pregnant with twins. So come January we will have 4 kids 3 years old and younger. I have also learned how to add the slideshow on this so check out some of the recent pictures of the kids from Jennilyn's 1st birthday last week.

Take care.

Jennilyn is walking now. She started recently when Netty had taken the kids to her grandparents (great-grandparents for our kids) for their wedding anniversary celebration. We had seen a few steps here and there before but not as a regular thing. Now she's walking most places. What is fun is that she'll stop to pick up her favorite blanket whenever it is nearby.

As for Dillon, he's talking a bit more. Still not a whole lot. Yet, he's been adding words here and there on a more frequent basis. He'll say "more" and hand you his sippee cup instead of just handing his cup up before you like he used to and expecting a refill. He also tries to singing along with some of the videos. Marsha was up this past week and had some alphabet video with her that Dillon would follow along with trying to draw his letters in the air like they directed. I wasn't surprised. One of his favorite DVDs is a Leap Frog video teaching the alphabet. Dillon also seems to enjoy having signs read to him off the doors at church with his usual "What is that?"

The long period of unemployment has come down to a terrible decision. Netty and I must move. My father will be helping us financially until I can get employ, so I expect he'll make sure I job hunt like it was a full-time job in itself complete with overtime, minus the overtime pay though. Anyways, our lease is up the end of this month and our landlord has someone else interested in renting the place. We've known this was happening so we got most of the stuff packed up already. Today, we'll finish packing up and get the rental truck. Tomorrow, we'll load the truck and on Wednesday we'll start the drive to my parents' home in Spokane, Washington. My dad figures it will quickly be cheaper than supporting our rent too by having us relocate there. Still, I was hoping to get one of the jobs I had an interview with so I would have been scrambling to find a place locally or in Iowa and going for perhaps a cheaper truck rental.

Thinking of the moving truck rental, ugh! Just three years ago we moved out here from Utah. We rented a moving truck for about eight hundred, not counting gas. I was expecting some inflation and the increased gas prices to hurt especially. Turns out that the cheapest rental truck we could find for the one-way trip is about thirteen hundred, not counting taxes or gas. Ouch! We had some saved up in anticipation of a move with all this job hunting, we just had no idea that it had gotten quite so expensive.

Jennilyn loves practicing her stair climbing. She has gotten good enough that she even climbed up the first step of a step ladder while we weren't paying attention. We had just looked away for a bit thinking nothing of her playing there. We knew Dillon could climb ladders so we had been careful watching him around any ladder, but now we know Jennilyn is upgrading her skills to ladders too. Maybe soon we'll be converting her crib (after we move) to a toddler bed.

Another surprise this past month is learning that Netty is pregnant again. That was not planned. I know what it takes to make a baby.... The details of our planning would probably qualify as too much information. Anyways, Netty had her first ultrasound to make sure it wasn't another tubal pregnancy. The doctor told us that she should get a second ultrasound this next month to confirm whether it is twins or not. I guess I could leap into the lead for kids among my siblings.

Well it has been a while since I last wrote. I have been busy packing as we are moving to Spokane, WA in 1 1/2 weeks. Dan is still unemployed so we are moving in with family until we can find a job. I think that maybe this is for the best, as we recently got a surpise that I am pregnant again. Due Feb 1, 2009. It will be nice to be living close to my mother in law when this happens. I am headed up to Floodwood, MN tomorrow until June 22nd to visit my husbands grandmother. We are also going up to help my in-laws paint grandma's house (of course I will be taking care of my two kids).

I have decided that I need to make a better effort of keeping this up, so I am going to try and do better.

Untill later.

Well we are into another week of job searching. Dan lost is job in Nov so it has been a long three months now.

Jennilyn is growing like a week. She is almost 19 lbs and can crawl and likes to eat what we are eating not the baby food. She also hates a bottle but likes a sippy cup (Go figure).

Dillon is a busy 2 year old who likes to play with his sister and loves to play with cars or play outside. He can't seem to understand that even though it looks nice outstide the -30 degree windchill factor outside makes it so he can't go out and play. We have had cold winter this year, but it is starting to finally warm up. Even though yesturday we had negative windchill factor here.

Dan has a job interview today, I hope it goes well.

Well we have had our little girl. Jennilyn Annette Burke was born Aug 16, 2007 @ 4:35 am. She weighed 9 lbs 1 oz and 22 inchs long. Dan was out of town and she came so quickly that he wouldn't have made it in time even if I could have gotten a hold of him. I got to the hospital at 11:10 pm on Wed and she was born 5 1/2 hrs later. She is a bundle of joy. I will write more later.

Well it has been a while since Dan and I have posted on this blog account, and since I have noticed that some of my friends have started using blogger I decided I better come back and start using it again.

Boy what an exciting year we have had since we last wrote. In Nov we found out we were excepting our 2nd child. We are due any day now. We do not know what we are having since the baby wouldn't cooperate with us.

In July we decided to move a little closer to work and family and church, so it is nice to live closer to everything that we enjoy.

We will keep you posted on when the new little one arrives.
